Hi loves,
Before we get into it, I just have to say: today is my birthday! I'm so excited. I love birthdays more than any other moment except Christmas. It feels magical, and a time of rebirth. If you're reading this, consider yourself part of my celebration, there’s cake in this corner of the internet, babe.
Now, let's talk about love.
We're in the month of love. Every year around this time, everything starts to feel very… loud. Couples everywhere. Perfect date nights. Giant bouquets of roses. Luxury gifts. Surprise trips. Social media timelines full of highlight reels that make love look like a competition. If we're being honest, it can make us feel a little bad.
Maybe you're single. Maybe you're not. Maybe your boyfriend didn't show up with a huge bouquet like your favorite influencer's boyfriend did.
But maybe he cooked you the most thoughtful meal. Maybe he wrote you a letter. Maybe he made you something with his own hands. Maybe he’s a bit quieter, his love language looking like a car serenade, washing dishes after you cook him dinner, pumping your gas and holding your heavy patiently things while you shop.
When did love become this performative, mercantilistic thing? When did it turn into a scoreboard of who received the biggest gift?
That's not love.
Last week on the blog we talked about love languages and how to apply them to yourself.
It's not about what your partner gives you. It's about the intention behind it. It's about feeling seen. It's about knowing that love is practiced daily, not just performed on Valentine's Day.
To my girls in their single era, this is for you too.
Being single doesn't mean being without love. You have friends. You have family. You have yourself. You can spend Valentine's Day with your girls, with your dog, with your favorite comfort food, watching your favorite movie in bed. You can take yourself out. You can buy your own flowers. You can reinforce the relationship you have with you.
Valentine's Day shouldn't be a day to measure what others give you. It should be a day to reinforce love in all its forms.
Romantic love. Friendship love. Self love. Real love isn't a performance. It's intention. It's presence. It's everyday care.
Let's celebrate that instead.
Before we dive into this week’s news, we have something very special to share…
We’re hosting our second event!!!
We’ll be making pasta from scratch together, then sitting down to a beautiful three-course meal. An afternoon to celebrate womanhood, share stories, build community, network, drink wine, and enjoy truly good food around one big table.
It’s about meaningful conversations and that kind of energy that reminds you why being a woman is magic, and why spaces like this matter so much.
We cannot wait to gather with you.
