Something that I’ve learned recently is that slow is fast, as long as you’re steady. We didn’t publish last week, and a small part of me wanted to feel guilty, and then the grown version of me said no- take the time, and you don’t need to explain yourself. So I’m not going to explain why I skipped a week, no ma’am. Life is too short to feel obligated to explain your actions to strangers who have no personal interest in your best interests. There, I am saying it louder for the back… We live in a society that challenges us to this level of perfection, obligation, and approval that is honestly impossible to achieve.
I started this blog as a way to get myself back to my true creative self, to share with my audience what I love, what is really in the group chat, and hopefully to inspire some of you, even just one of you, to stand up, mind your own business in whatever way you define that to be, and to be your best, most possible self. I wouldn’t be very inspirational if I didn’t lead by example now, would I? So in the true MHOB fashion, I will say that I spent a lovely week doing things I haven’t done in a very long time or ever. I went to a reading party, sang in the car with friends, rage cleaned my apartment, threw out clothes that didn’t fit, nor would ever fit again, cried my eyes out to a musical written by Alicia Keys, and hugged my mom.

You know it’s time for a declutter when getting dressed starts feeling like this
Wherever you’re at in this mid-year life checkpoint, just know that you’re not alone. Take a moment to reflect on what’s next for you. Are you procrastinating on getting some essential life admin tasks done? Have you booked a trip to reset? Hate your job? Want to start a hobby or side hustle? It’s never too late, you’re never ready, so just go out and do it. And in the meantime, stay tuned while I start to share more bits of me taking my own advice to be, well, me.
